5-Amino-1MQ

Also known as 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium · NNMT inhibitor

PreliminaryOralNot FDA-approved; research compound with limited published human data. Not an approved drug; sometimes sold as a research chemical or via compounding.

5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule inhibitor of the enzyme nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), which is highly expressed in adipose tissue. By inhibiting NNMT, it is proposed to shift cellular metabolism toward increased energy expenditure and fat oxidation. Evidence is largely preclinical, consisting of cell and rodent studies, with little to no published human trial data.
