Tissue Repair & Recovery
ARA-290 (Cibinetide)
Also known as Cibinetide · Erythropoietin-derived peptide · Innate repair receptor agonist
ARA-290, also called cibinetide, is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the tissue-protective domain of erythropoietin. It is designed to activate the innate repair receptor to reduce inflammation and protect cells without stimulating red-blood-cell production. It has the most formal clinical-trial base in this category, having been evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 2 studies, most notably in sarcoidosis-associated small-fiber neuropathy, where it was associated with increased corneal nerve fiber measures and reduced neuropathic pain.
Studied / used for
- Studied in randomized Phase 2 clinical trials for sarcoidosis-associated small-fiber neuropathy
- Investigated for neuropathic pain and nerve fiber regeneration
- Investigated for metabolic measures in type 2 diabetes
- Studied for tissue protection and anti-inflammatory effects
Commonly reported side effects
- Injection-site reactions
- Generally reported as well tolerated in trials
- Reported not to raise red-blood-cell count, unlike erythropoietin
