DHEA

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is an endogenous steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands, not a peptide. It serves as a precursor that the body can convert into androgens and estrogens. It is widely sold as a dietary supplement; the prescription form prasterone is FDA-approved for one specific vaginal indication. Evidence for many of its popular uses is limited.
