Epitalon (Epithalon)

Also known as Epitalon · Epithalon · Epithalone · Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly · AEDG peptide

AnecdotalSubcutaneousIntramuscularNot FDA-approved; sold as a research chemical, not legally marketed for human consumption. The FDA has flagged it among compounded peptides over immunogenicity and safety concerns

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed in Russia as an analog of epithalamin, a pineal gland extract. It is studied for its reported ability to influence telomerase activity, melatonin production, and circadian rhythm. Most of the research consists of Russian-language studies from a single research group spanning several decades, with essentially no independent Western clinical replication, so its anti-aging claims remain unproven in humans.

Studied / used for

  • Studied for telomerase activity in cell cultures
  • Researched in the context of circadian rhythm and melatonin regulation
  • Studied in the context of geroprotective and neuroendocrine effects
  • Researched for immune and pineal function

Commonly reported side effects

  • Injection site redness or irritation
  • Mild headache or dizziness
  • Transient fatigue or lethargy
  • Occasional sleep changes
  • Potential immunogenicity (a concern flagged by the FDA)
