Liraglutide

Liraglutide is a daily-injection GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics the natural incretin hormone GLP-1. It increases glucose-dependent insulin secretion, reduces hepatic glucose output, slows digestion, and acts on appetite-regulation centers to decrease food intake. It is an earlier-generation GLP-1 agent now also available as a generic.
