Mazdutide

Also known as IBI362 · LY3305677

Clinically studiedSubcutaneous injectionApproved by China's NMPA in 2025 for chronic weight management and for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes (developed by Innovent Biologics under license from Eli Lilly). Not approved by the U.S. FDA; it remains investigational in the United States and is not an approved compound for U.S. pharmacy compounding under 503A/503B. For athletes, GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonists are not on the WADA Prohibited List; WADA has added certain GLP-1 receptor agonists (for example semaglutide and tirzepatide) to its 2026 Monitoring Program, meaning such use is observed rather than banned. Mazdutide is not itself named on that program.

Mazdutide is a synthetic peptide analog of oxyntomodulin, a gut hormone, engineered to activate both the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Through GLP-1 receptor activation it is associated in research with promoting insulin secretion, lowering blood glucose, and reducing appetite, while glucagon receptor activation is proposed to additionally increase energy expenditure and influence hepatic fat metabolism. It was developed by Innovent Biologics under license from Eli Lilly and reached late-stage human trials, with China's NMPA approving it in 2025 for chronic weight management and, subsequently, for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. As an approved drug (in China) supported by multiple completed and ongoing Phase 3 programs (the GLORY and DREAMS series), it has a substantial human clinical research base, though it remains investigational in the United States and is not FDA-approved.
