Melanotan II is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone that activates multiple melanocortin receptors, including MC1R (driving melanin production and skin tanning) and MC4R/MC3R (associated with appetite and sexual arousal effects). It is the broader, less receptor-selective predecessor from which the more selective PT-141 was developed. It is not approved for human use.
