N-Acetyl Semax Amidate is a structurally modified version of Semax that adds an acetyl group at the N-terminus and an amide group at the C-terminus. These modifications are reported to slow enzymatic degradation and to improve blood-brain barrier penetration, making the variant more resistant to proteolysis and longer-acting than unmodified Semax in preclinical descriptions. Its proposed mechanism mirrors Semax, centered on BDNF/NGF signaling and neurotransmitter modulation. Direct controlled studies of the amidate variant in humans are limited.
