PE-22-28 is a synthetic seven-residue peptide derived from residues 22-28 of spadin, a fragment of the sortilin propeptide. It is studied as a selective inhibitor of the TREK-1 potassium channel, a target implicated in mood regulation, and is reported to show higher TREK-1 affinity than the parent spadin molecule. In rodent behavioral models it has produced antidepressant-like effects and enhanced hippocampal neurogenesis on a faster timescale than conventional antidepressants in those models. Human data are absent.
