Also known as Bremelanotide · Vyleesi · PT141

Clinically studiedSubcutaneous injectionIntranasalFDA-approved as Vyleesi for HSDD in premenopausal women; other uses are off-label or via compounding

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic melanocortin peptide that acts centrally, primarily as an agonist at the MC4 receptor in the hypothalamus, rather than on the vascular pathways targeted by PDE5 inhibitors. It is thought to influence neural circuits associated with sexual desire and arousal. It was derived from the broader melanocortin agonist Melanotan II after researchers observed arousal-related effects during pigmentation studies.
