Tesamorelin

Also known as Tesamorelin acetate · Egrifta · TH9507

Clinically studiedSubcutaneous injectionFDA-approved (2010) for HIV-associated lipodystrophy under the brand Egrifta; prescription-only. Off-label and non-HIV uses are not FDA-approved. Prohibited in sport (WADA, S2).

Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analog with an N-terminal modification that resists degradation while preserving binding to pituitary GHRH receptors, producing sustained stimulation of endogenous growth hormone. It is FDA-approved (2010) to reduce excess visceral abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy, acting largely through growth hormone-mediated lipolysis with a relatively selective effect on visceral fat. It has also been studied for liver fat in metabolic and HIV populations.
