Thymogen is a synthetic dipeptide of glutamyl-tryptophan (Glu-Trp), identified by Khavinson's group in Russia as a small active immunomodulatory unit related to the larger thymalin complex. It behaves as a modulatory rather than purely stimulatory agent, studied for normalizing both suppressed and overactive immune responses by influencing T-cell differentiation and cytokine signaling. Its tryptophan component has also prompted exploration of neurological and metabolic effects.

Studied / used for

  • Studied for immune modulation and T-cell differentiation
  • Used in protocols for immune restoration in Russian clinical practice
  • Studied for neurological and oxidative-stress effects (tryptophan pathway)

Commonly reported side effects

  • Injection-site reactions
