Thymopentin (TP-5) is a synthetic pentapeptide corresponding to the active region of the thymic hormone thymopoietin. It is studied for its ability to promote T-cell differentiation and modulate immune responses, and has been investigated in immunodeficiency-related conditions. It has a very short biological half-life, which has limited its broader pharmaceutical development. Controlled trials exist (for example, positive randomized trials in atopic dermatitis), though results in other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis were inconsistent.

Studied / used for

  • Studied for T-cell differentiation and immune modulation
  • Studied in protocols for atopic dermatitis and IgE regulation
  • Studied for rheumatoid arthritis, with mixed trial results
  • Studied as an adjunct in immunodeficiency states

Commonly reported side effects
